This is my second time for GGJ. I’ll develop a good game!

Unity is really great game engine, especially for rapid prototyping. Me and co-workers established “The Unity Club” in our office and develop a lot of small size game every week after five. In this club, we translated this book into Japanese to explain how to use Unity to new members. Members of the club bought this book and read it with our translation. Beside that, we wrote a lot of text ourselves. Finally, we decided to ask Softbank Creative to publish this book and provide our text as appendices to DVD.

Our translation wasn’t easy to read, because this translation was not for publishing. But, now we are making it better.

In Japan, the market size of amusement center is bigger than another one. An amusement center is called a “game center” in Japan. You can find game centers anywhere in Japan. It’s fun to create a new arcade video game, because almost all arcade games have special peripherals and special hardware. In addition, developers can go to amusement centers and watch directly how users enjoy playing their game. Japanese amusement centers and foreign countries buy a lot of our games. For example, there aren’t a lot of game center in USA, but USA import a lot of arcade game from Japan. Successful video games are ported to console.

Fortunately, I will take a part in both this year. I finished developing a console title and joined to an arcade title again.

And then, we had an internet radio program for this book and invited the author via skype, who is Mr. Jason Gregory. I was glad that I talked with him.

This story is 9 months ago. I have begun translating new books. As you know, my English skill is not enough to translate books. But I want to try it, because there are a lot of nice books written in English.

I know that many people are preying for Japanese. I really thank. Thank you so much. I’m preying for Miyagi Prefecture. And I’ll do anything for them.

At the first main session, the veteran programer talked a way to generate others’ motivation.

At the next main session, the technology manager of a certain company showed a brief look of “Agile Game Development With Scrum” written by Clinton Keith. I knew this book is valuable, but I haven’t finished reading it, because it is written in English. He had finished reading it and told us some topics. It was very interesting.

Do I have a skill to hear English track and understand? I don’t know. Time for my challenge.

I’d like to get involved to world wide development. I plan to go to Itarly and Europe. And, in the future, I might go to China. There are many developers who are greater than me. My dream is challenging to them and cooperating with them. This is exciting dream.

In a fact, I quitted my University. I don’t have a good memento about my University. So this material made me overcast face. Probably my young tutor had a hard time with me.  But, I couldn’t answer questions about my University, because I didn’t graduate!

When I was a college student, I had a big dream and a high hopes. I couldn’t enjoy the University life as well as my friends. I became unable to understand why I was there.

I wanted to leave the University and go to Tokyo. Tokyo was a dream city for me. I believed that I can do something in Tokyo. My parents got angry and stopped supporting me. My family was destructed by my selfish hope. And then, I left from Nagoya, went to Tokyo and got a job that is news paper delivery.

There were various co-workers — college students, aspiring actors, professional newspaper delivery men and fugitives from debts. I was working with them and tried to grab for the chance. I took a part in video game development. But I couldn’t grab a chance in there. And then, I became an animator to create Japanese animation movies. I was happy but very poor.

After that, I got a job in a certain research institute to research the structure of entertainment. This institute gave me some common senses, educations, modern programming, responsibility and salary.

I settled with my parents and returned to my country in vacations. When I returned to my country, my grampa was dead. He had wished my success. I was very sad.

So I decided to get a creator job again. I went back to Tokyo, developed a small game engine and tried to find a job. Because I don’t have an academic background and enough experiences as a modern game developer, it was very difficult to find a job. But a certain company employed me.

If I had graduated the University, I got a good carrier? Who knows?

But, I got much both of good and bad experiences after I quitted the University. There are mixed feelings. I brought back the past by this conversation material and got the mixed feeling. Sorry, my online tutor.

I’m glad to restart committing XC project. At the beginning, I will host some discussions to determine my tasks. I will read many topics, post my opinions, discuss many things, write enough documents and write small code for small core.

BTW, today is my final business day in this year. You may unbelieve that we’re working now. For many Japanese, New Year’s Holidays called “Shogatsu” is important holidays. So this week is business days, yet.

In New Year’s Holidays, I will go to my parents’ home and give some present. I’m looking forward to go to Hiroshima, my country.

I’ll hold some book when I go to Hiroshima. These books written in English gives important knowleadges to me. Since I can not read English quickly, I haven’t read many parts of these books. I’ll read these books while holidays. Reading English is learning English, for me.

Next year, I’ll try to implement game engine, game framework and game asset pipeline. So I have to learn many advanced technologies from Europe and North America. I respect their works and their technologies. These books teach some part of their works.

The new XC core will have the main sequence, so that will not be a glue framework. I don’t know whether the XC core is a glue framework. But, I think that we will not need to write code that is implemented by other libraries. Instead of implementation, we should provide interface for MOD developers.

Interfaces are very important. It evens out differences between libraries. If interfaces aren’t provided, our code depends on the specific library. We avoid such situation as much as possible.

Of course, we pay attention to licence of other libraries. If the library that we need conflicts with our licence, we write code to implement necessary feature.

We will reduce amount of code. On the other hand, I have the plan that we enhance the existing code. That is special features that the core should implement directly.

Works for core will not need a long amount of time. The core has only interfaces and small features. That is very small. Community’s hard mission is that someone develop the implementation called “BASE” on the new core.
